Generation Z. The prospective of today. But who are they, what are thinking and how do they see the world? And what is it that makes them the rare contemporaries? In our new Autumn Winter '17 issue, photographer Helena Påls digs deeper into the souls of the young in a beautiful editorial, to share a glimpse of a group of Stockholm Gen Z'ers as they move from school to home. From the excitement of abandoning pencils and books - and all worries of the days school stress - to the moments of complete relaxation as soon as the sight of your own front gate comes into view. Welcome to Salem - complete peace, serenity in its truest form. / Words by Maria Memet - Boys by girls. Publicerad i No 13 av magasinet Boys by Girls www.boysbygirls.com

i want to run with my limbs outstretched. i want to go back i want again to go roof-tanning with you and smoke and laugh at the tedium of people locked in their daily skins and sometimes spit on them when we’re high but hush that’s a secret. i want to crash autumn yes of course i love its colours but that’s the season when you always leave and then i’m no longer in your arms which used to spin me like a whip, bright and gleaming, and we used to fight like stray cats in this godless air and it was better than love not because it was violent but because of how agile we felt should i open the window again and tip-toe on the tiles ? alone it’s not the same and it’s so cold outside that i’m wrapped up in heavy sheets in foetal position, which is like recovery, and it hardly augurs well. watercolours on my skin, i’m counting bruises as so many memories and i wonder: how blue is your morning? i shut my eyes and the whole world drops dead. i repeat to myself: i am important to her. i’ll light up candles to avoid the sky dripping dreams. i’m gonna grow up inside your woollen cardigan. and i long for these days when every move could have caused us brain damage./ Words by Pauline Dubois Dahl - Alei Journal. Being a teenager is the angst that clouds your mind and cries out for "Love’s Embrace". It’s living life without limitations, yet still being stuck in that strange corridor of boyhood. It’s your dirty Converse and the realisation that the human quest for companionship never seems to end. Sometimes time stretches its arms across the planes of fate and still no-one appears to take your hand. The mind drifts to warm limbs interlocked, it’s that innocent unity of skin and mind that fuels your heart. A mysterious figure clings to your soul; cloaked by the anonymity of time itself, calling out through the dimensions for your lips to meet. Helena Påls captures Love Rönnlund at Nisch Management in an exclusive story for Issue 11. There is an aura of grit in her photographs, as though a strong Scandinavian wind has warped something within them. It’s subtle, but enough to get that sense of isolation and longing to remind us that we're human. Love’s warmth radiates out from his gaze, giving the ability to forget his moody surroundings. It’s a tale of survival; of youthful resistance in the heart of a storm. It’s the endless maze of questioning, what form will my love take? That one person continues to leave their clumsy fragments in your dreams, yet hides behind a mask for all to be revealed. The styling is effortless and instantly disarming. Styled by Matilda Sandstrom, the clothing plays on the traditional subcultures of rebellious youth. Classic unisex sportswear suited to the Seventies gymnasium plays on the unity of lovers, so close that they blur into one. While minimalist tailoring works against the elements by merging sharp silhouettes with carefree textures. Love stands multifaceted, battling the demands of growing up; half-man in his longing, the other half a lost boy. Publicerad i No 11 av magasinet Boys by Girls www.boysbygirls.com

They’re your shadow, your left arm, your partner in crime. Butterflies dance inside you as soon as their hand brushes and locks into yours. You hear your own heart pounding out of your chest as you’re losing your sense of time. The comforting sentiment of togetherness creates an ache from separation. You become vulnerable, unlocking secret chambers of your heart. A vacant expression fixates onto your face as you lie in each other’s arms in complete silence. Your dreams become their dreams. Constant stares and slight cringes follow your every step as you walk hand in hand in a bubble; embarking on adventures that lead you to Neverland. Photographer, Helena Pals, transmits an artistic touch to form this beautiful love story. Captured in Stockholm during the February of few-daylight-hours, Helena’s aim is to enlighten the hidden aspect of a lost boy’s spirit. With her 1940’s Ikoflex camera, she creates static portraits of music personality, Linn Tabudlong and photo phobic artist, Erik Thulen, through dormant posture. Cropped and distressed textures de-saturated in colour, sit beside impassive features that are bathed in black and white. Stylist and costume designer, Matilda Sandstrom brings a minimalist vision from the self-portraying marriage between her own Swedish folk roots and her lover's Tunisian Berber traditions. You are introduced to leading brands like: Acne, Our Legacy and Whyred, where classic shirts, slouchy vests and sweatshirts flow into a neutral palette accompanied by the occasional pattern of stripes. You will be together forever, carving each other’s name into the tree. / Words by Vilija Kasiginaite - Boys by Girls. Publicerad i webbupplagan av magasinet Boys by Girls www.boysbygirls.com
